Basic information about Egypt

Arab Republic of Egypt is situated in the northeast of the African continent, which bathes the Mediterranean and Red Sea. The official name of Egypt is Egyptian. The capital and largest city is Cairo here. Egypt has an area of about 1 000 000 km ², while 96% of this area consists of desert and only 2.6% of farmland. The head of Egypt is the president, who is from the 1981 Muhammad Hosni Mubarak. The country became independent in 1922 with the British dominions and Egypt was declared an independent state. The official language is Arabic in Egypt, but are also spoken in English. As the currency used in Egypt, the Egyptian pound and the small units are piastry (1 Egyptian pound = 100 piastrů).

Egypt has become a real paradise for tourists.
